Owner Absent Training/Behavior Modification (sometimes called "Day Training") is a one-on-one method in which I will come to your home and work specifically with the dog. This method is quite convenient for very busy dog owners! For instance, your dog will be learning while you are working, running errands, exercising, or just relaxing at home. I will teach you the skills and concepts needed to maintain the new behaviors, rather than teaching you how to train the new behaviors. This type of training has a more flexible schedule because the owner does not need to be present for each session. Faster progress is usually seen with this method. Less effort is required by you, the owner, to simply maintain the new behavior than to actually teach the new behavior. More serious behavior problems generally work better using this Day Training method. Each program is tailored to the specific dog's needs. This is an excellent training style if you feel too busy to actively train your dog, or simply overwhelmed by the feat of training your dog. If you'd rather put the extra time in to train your own dog, and learn the strategies and techniques of actually teaching new behaviors, Home-Based Training may be a better option for you and your dog.
